Ole Miss pulled within 63-60 with 18 seconds remaining and had a chance to tie. Boynton gave Florida some separation minutes later, hitting consecutive 3-pointers to push the lead to 59-54. Rosario put the Gators ahead for good with 5:29 remaining, draining a 3-pointer for a 53-52 lead. The Rebels scored only eight points in the first 12 minutes of the second half. While Florida was heating up, shooting 52 percent in the second half, the Ole Miss offense was grinding to a halt and the 3-point shooting reverted to previous form. Young's dunk gave the Gators a 48-46 lead - their first since the opening minutes. Williams hit four of the team's six 3-pointers.īut Florida slowly climbed back into the game in the second half behind Young and some well-timed 3-pointers, including Scottie Wilbekin's with 10:11 remaining that tied the game at 46. They made 14 of 23 shots from the field in the first half, and had an uncharacteristic good touch from long range. The Rebels went on a 14-0 run to take a 20-4 lead in the first 8 minutes before settling for the 10-point halftime lead. That negated the Gators' one major strength - superior guard play - and they struggled to find open 3-point looks for much of the game. Ole Miss got the pace it wanted from the very beginning, forcing Florida into a half-court, physical game. They couldn't duplicate that success in the second half, making just 8 of 29 (27.6 percent) from the field. The Rebels shot 60.9 percent from the field in the first half. Terrance Henry had 21 points and 10 rebounds for Mississippi (13-7, 3-3), while Nick Williams added 14 points. "I never thought they got rattled or overwhelmed." "I thought that our guys stayed the course," Florida coach Billy Donovan said. Erving Walker had 10 points and nine assists. Young was 7 of 10 from the field off the bench despite playing with tendinitis in his right ankle. But the Gators worked their way back thanks to lockdown defense and clutch 3-pointers from Boynton and Mike Rosario. In the second half we guarded the 3-point line a little better, but really, it was just kind of the law of averages."īoynton admitted keeping cool was tough when Ole Miss was draining 3-pointers in the first half - hitting all six of its attempts from long range in front of a raucous crowd at Tad Smith Coliseum.įlorida (16-4, 4-1 Southeastern Conference) fell behind 20-4 in the opening minutes and trailed 38-28 at halftime. They hit tough shots and were just killing it. "We were playing defense but they hit shots. "The best thing for us was we never panicked," Boynton said. Patric Young scored 15 points and Boynton added 12 as Florida won for the sixth time in seven games. The 14th-ranked Gators clawed back from a double-digit first-half deficit to beat Mississippi 64-60 on Thursday night. The synopsis: The Rebels play defense, but can't shoot. Florida's Kenny Boynton had read his scouting report on Mississippi.

Add the chicken in s single layer, then cook for 5 minutes. The bottom of the chicken should be golden brown at this point. You’ll start by heating a drizzle of olive oil in the pan over medium heat. It allows the chicken to brown on the bottom without any chance of sticking, tearing, or drying out. You will want to use a nonstick skillet for this recipe (this one is my absolute favorite, pictured). You can go simple with salt and pepper, or I always like to add garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika and oregano, no matter what I’m using the chicken for. Next, season the chicken with desired seasonings. Here’s how to make shredded chicken with step-by-step photos using my favorite stovetop method (full recipes of all methods in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post): season THE CHICKENįirst, pat the chicken dry with paper towels so the seasonings stick and to ensure a beautiful sear. The chicken first sears on one, creating a crust of flavor that seals in the juices and keeps your chicken tender while cooking. Pick whichever cooking method works best for you! However, the stovetop method is my absolute favorite for the most flavorful shredded chicken. There are three easy ways to make shredded chicken: on the stovetop, in the slow cooker, and in the Instant Pot (or pressure cooker). What’s the best way to make shredded chicken? A tropical storm becomes a category one hurricane when winds reach sustained speeds of 74 miles per hour. Such storms are then given a name, such as Gilbert, Ivan, Katrina or Ophelia, which cycle through the alphabet. The rotation of the Earth also determines the direction in which these storms travel, so hurricanes in the North Atlantic move west towards Central and North America.Īs winds increase to a sustained speed of 39 miles per hour, a tropical depression becomes a tropical storm. The weather systems spin anti-clockwise in the northern hemisphere, and clockwise in the southern hemisphere. If this process happens a little way from the equator – typically at latitudes of more than 10° north – then the Coriolis force associated with the rotation of the Earth sets the massive weather system spinning, with winds spiralling in towards the centre. Hurricane Katrina formed in this way over the south-eastern Bahamas on 23 August 2005 and was labelled Tropical Depression 12. Initially, when wind speeds reach 23 miles per hour, these mild, wet and grey weather systems are know as depressions. This spinning wind drags up more moisture-laden air from the sea surface in a self-enhancing feedback process that swells the storm.Ĭold air falls back to the ocean surface through the eye and on the outside of the storm. This in turn creates wind as air is drawn into the area. When the warm column of air from the sea surface first begins to rise, it causes an area of low pressure. ![]() It is this heat energy, combined with the rotation of the Earth, that drives a hurricane. Under these conditions, large quantities of water evaporate and condense into clouds and rain – releasing heat in the process. ![]() These requirements are met between June and November in the northern hemisphere. Hurricanes can only form and be fed when the sea-surface temperature exceeds 27 ☌ and the surrounding atmosphere is calm. The seed for hurricane formation is a cluster of thunderstorms over warm tropical waters. Over its lifetime, one of these storms can release as much energy as 10,000 nuclear bombs. They occur in tropical regions and are called typhoons in South-East Asia and the Pacific, and cyclones in the Indian Ocean. Hurricanes are characterised by a calm central region of low pressure between 12 to 60 miles in diameter, known as the eye. The term hurricane is derived from Hurican, the name of a native American storm god. ![]() How hurricanes are bornĪ hurricane is a fiercely powerful, rotating form of tropical storm that can be 124 to 1240 miles in diameter. Here, New Scientist explains how hurricanes form and why Hurricane Katrina was so destructive. The cost of the damage may top $100 billion. Thousands have been killed or injured and more than half a million people have been displaced in a humanitarian crisis of a scale not seen in the US since the great depression. Katrina has left a disaster zone of 90,000 square miles in its wake – almost the size of the UK. The maelstrom tore through flood defences protecting low-lying New Orleans from neighbouring Lake Pontchartrain, and flooded 80% of the city to a depth of up to 8 metres. It whipped up sustained winds of 140 miles per hour (225 kilometres per hour), and a 5 to 9 metre high “storm surge” of sea water when it made landfall at 0610 local time on 29 August 2005. Hurricane Katrina has had a devastating impact on the Gulf Coast of the US. ![]() ![]() Built with highly durable materials, AWP rigs, tool belts, and pouches are made to last and engineered to perform. If any dc bias value is significantly different than the one obtained from simulation, modify your circuit to get the desired dc bias before moving onto the next step. Check your dc operating point by measuring I C, V E, V C, and V B.Remember that you can combine the standard values in series or parallel to get a combined value closer to your design number. Rather than turning down the AWG in software, it would be better from a noise point of view to insert a resistor voltage divider between the AWG output and your circuit input to attenuate the signal. Also, due to the relatively high gain of your design, you will need an input signal with a small amplitude of around 100 mV peak-to-peak. Note that on the source resistor, R S, and the AWG output of the ADALM2000, the AWG output has a 50 Ω series output resistance and you will need to include it, along with the external resistance, in series with its output. Using short-circuit time constant analysis, the lower 3 dB frequency (ω L) can be found as:įigure 3 shows the high frequency, small signal equivalent circuit of the amplifier. R B is the parallel combination of R B1 and R B2. Note that C F is ignored since it is assumed that its impedance at these frequencies is very high. ![]() Low Frequency Responseįigure 2 shows the low frequency, small signal equivalent circuit of the amplifier. Miller capacitor C F is a small capacitance that will be used to control the high frequency 3 dB response of the amplifier. Capacitor C E is an ac bypass capacitor used to establish a low frequency ac ground at the emitter of Q1. Capacitors C B and C C are used to block the amplifier dc bias point from the input and output (ac coupling). The schematic of a typical common emitter amplifier is shown in Figure 1. Trending | After 11 years of trying, Mumbaikar wins India’s first silver at World Puzzle Championship ![]() What’s the best way to store coffee beans for lasting freshness? Fortunately, your roaster will only put whole beans out for sale after they’ve had a chance to rest after roasting, and most roasters print the “Roasted on” date on the bags. The darker the roast, the longer it needs to degas. After roasting, the coffee needs time to degas, otherwise you’ll end up with bad, overly bitter tasting coffee. You read that range correctly-there is such a thing as “too fresh” for coffee. “We think that the ‘optimal freshness window’ for coffee is between two days and four weeks post-roast for filter brews, and one week to six weeks for espresso,” says MacDougall. While storing in the freezer can prolong the life of your coffee, the beans stay fresh for a good amount of time if stored at room temperature, and how long that is depends on the roast level. How long will coffee beans last at room temperature? MacDougall also says that this is a fine method if you’re buying in bulk to save money, but that you may want to weigh the effort against the savings. “I personally have a freezer collection of small vacuum-packed doses of my favorite coffees from years past that I’ll get out when I want to experience them again,” Graff says. If this sounds a bit over the top, that’s because it is-both MacDougall and Graff explain that this method can really be reserved for really special coffee. So how can we prevent chicken-flavored coffee? “If your freezer smells like that rotisserie chicken you froze last week, then that smell will make its way through that barrier and into your coffee,” says Dakota Graff, director of coffee for the Arkansas-based roastery, Onyx Coffee Lab. Some coffee bags, particularly the paper ones, make poor barriers against moisture and smells. That means storing beans in the refrigerator is definitely a no-no, since so many fridge staples give off moisture (think produce, the condensation on a milk or juice jug that's been sitting out, etc). According to the National Coffee Association (NCA), coffee is hygroscopic-it absorbs ambient moisture from the air. Storing coffee in the freezer isn’t necessarily bad, but there’s a right way to do it. But the whole experience made me wonder: Should coffee ever go in the freezer? And what’s the best way to keep it fresh if you’re not going through a 12-ounce bag every week? I talked to a few coffee roasters and other industry professionals to get to the bottom of it. READ MORE: Was Christopher Columbus a Hero or Villain? Amerigo VespucciĪmerica was named after Amerigo Vespucci, a Florentine navigator and explorer who played a prominent role in exploring the New World. Columbus probably died of severe arthritis following an infection on May 20, 1506, still believing he had discovered a shorter route to Asia.
